WARBOYS

The work is inspired by the digital image above from the British Art Show8 catalogue showing Artist Jessica Warboys working to create her massive sea paintings using the beach as her studio and the sea as her co-worker.

My work aims to capture the energy of the artist heaving and humping huge heavy wet canvases doused in pigments from crushed mineral and stone, in and out of the water whilst preoccupied in the act of making.

With the wild sea relentlessly bringing wave after wave, the sucking gravel banks at the tide line, and the illuminated sky above, I endeavour to capture the energy of the creative process combined with the rudimentary elements of water, air and earth.

This work was proudly exhibited at the British Art Show8 Takeover night at Norwich University of the Arts.
